Smart TV

VPN for
your TV.

Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox and more. Every brand works through your router, and a travel router takes IPHush to any hotel TV. Smart DNS covers TVs that cannot run VPN apps.

Live

Router

Works with every TV, console and streaming stick, including Samsung, LG and Roku, which cannot install VPN apps. One router protects the whole home and counts as one connection.

Family and Pro each include 1 router. Any router with a WireGuard client works: GL.iNet, OpenWrt, MikroTik, many ASUS and TP-Link models, UniFi, pfSense and OPNsense. Router guide.

Live

Travel router

Hotel or Airbnb TV? Take a small travel router (GL.iNet and similar), connect it to the room's Wi-Fi with IPHush on, and connect your Fire TV Stick or Chromecast to it.

Your shows and accounts stay on your own private connection.

Smart DNS for TV

For TVs that cannot run VPN apps: Samsung, LG, Roku, Vizio, VIDAA and game consoles. Type two DNS addresses into the TV, and your streaming apps see the location you chose.

Runs on its own IP addresses, registered to us. Not borrowed from a hosting company. How it works.

Every brand, one answer

Find your TV and see how to use IPHush with it. Every TV with Wi-Fi or a network cable works through the router. TVs without VPN apps can also use Smart DNS.

Set up, brand by brand

First set up IPHush on your router (guide). Then connect the TV to that router's network. Menu names differ a little between model years.

Samsung Smart TV Tizen OS

Samsung TVs cannot install VPN apps, so IPHush reaches them through your router.

  1. Open Settings → General (or Connection on newer models) → Network → Open Network Settings.
  2. Choose Wireless and pick your router's Wi-Fi, or Wired for a cable.
  3. If you ever typed a DNS server by hand, set it back: Network Status → IP Settings → DNS Setting → Obtain automatically.
  4. Restart the streaming app so it sees the new location.

Smart DNS: Network Status → IP Settings → DNS Setting → Enter manually, and enter the first IPHush DNS address from your account (Samsung has one field). Then turn off IPv6 under Network → Expert Settings.

LG Smart TV webOS

LG TVs cannot install VPN apps, so IPHush reaches them through your router.

  1. Open Settings → All Settings → General → Network (just Network on older models).
  2. Choose Wi-Fi Connection and pick your router's network, or Wired Connection.
  3. Restart the streaming app.

Smart DNS: Wi-Fi Connection → Advanced Wi-Fi Settings → Edit, untick Set Automatically, and enter the two IPHush DNS addresses from your account.

Google TV and Android TV Sony, TCL, Philips, Xiaomi, Sharp, Hisense, Chromecast, Nvidia Shield

Connect the TV to your IPHush router: Settings → Network & Internet and pick the router's Wi-Fi.

Amazon Fire TV Fire TV Stick, Cube, Omni, Panasonic, Toshiba and Insignia Fire TV models

Settings → Network and pick your IPHush router's Wi-Fi.

Apple TV tvOS

Settings → Network and choose your IPHush router's Wi-Fi, or use a cable.

Roku and Roku TV TCL, Hisense, Sharp, onn., Westinghouse and other Roku TVs

Roku cannot run VPN apps, and it does not let you change DNS. Use the router: Settings → Network → Set up connection and pick the router's Wi-Fi. Smart DNS can be set on the router itself.

Hisense VIDAA also some Toshiba and Grundig models

VIDAA cannot install VPN apps. Use the router: Settings → Network → Network Configuration and pick the router's Wi-Fi.

Smart DNS: Network Configuration → IP Settings → DNS, and enter the two IPHush DNS addresses from your account.

Vizio VIZIO OS / SmartCast

Vizio TVs cannot install VPN apps. Use the router: Menu → Network and pick the router's Wi-Fi.

PlayStation 5 and PS4

Consoles cannot run VPN apps. Use the router: Settings → Network → Settings → Set Up Internet Connection. A cable gives the steadiest connection for games and 4K.

Smart DNS: Set Up Internet Connection → your network → Advanced Settings → DNS Settings → Manual, and enter the two IPHush DNS addresses from your account.

Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

Use the router: Settings → General → Network settings → Set up wireless network, or plug in a cable.

Smart DNS: Network settings → Advanced settings → DNS settings → Manual, and enter the two IPHush DNS addresses from your account.

Nintendo Switch

Use the router: System Settings → Internet → Internet Settings and pick the router's Wi-Fi.

Smart DNS: Internet Settings → your network → Change Settings → DNS Settings → Manual, and enter the two IPHush DNS addresses from your account.

Smart DNS, made for TVs

Smart DNS is for one job: the big screen. It changes the location your streaming apps see, without an app and without a router.

  1. Its own addresses. Smart DNS runs on its own IP addresses, registered to us. They are not borrowed from a hosting company and not shared with our VPN.
  2. Only streaming moves. The apps you watch go through IPHush. Everything else on the TV goes the normal way, at full speed.
  3. Honest about privacy. Smart DNS changes location. It does not encrypt. For full privacy on the TV, use the router.
  4. Your home address, only while it is on. Smart DNS works only for the home IP address you register in your account, so nobody else can use it. We keep it only while Smart DNS is on, and delete it when you switch it off.
1Register your home network in your account, with one tap from any device at home. Smart DNS comes with Family (1 home network, up to 50 Mbit/s) and Pro (3 home networks, up to 100 Mbit/s each), enough for 4K.
2Choose a location from the same list as the app.
3Type the IPHush DNS address into the TV's network settings, and the second one if the TV has a second field. The brand guides above show where. If IPv6 is on in the TV's network settings, turn it off.
4Restart the TV (unplug it for 10 seconds), so the streaming apps forget the old location. Done. No app on the TV, nothing to install.

Made for 4K

Full speed of your connection — no speed caps; a fair share for everyone at busy times. 4K depends only on your own connection. Routers come with Family and Pro.

  1. Restart the streaming app after changing location. Apps remember where you were.
  2. Use a cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for 4K. A weak Wi-Fi signal costs more speed than the VPN.
  3. Dedicated IP on Pro: an address only you use means fewer verification prompts, which matters when you type with a remote.
  4. Clean addresses: our IP addresses are our own and new, and they are clean on the blocklists.

Brand and product names are trademarks of their owners and are not affiliated with IPHush. Streaming services set their own catalogs and rules per country, so what you can watch can vary. Use each service under its own terms.

TV questions

Can I use a VPN on a Samsung TV?

Yes, through your router. Samsung's Tizen OS does not allow VPN apps, so you set up IPHush once on the router and the TV is protected like every other device at home.

Can I use a VPN on an LG TV?

Yes, through your router. LG's webOS does not allow VPN apps.

Does a VPN slow down my TV?

IPHush has no speed caps: you get the full speed of your connection, with a fair share for everyone at busy times. Pick the router or location closest to you for the lowest latency.

How many TVs can I protect?

Every TV behind your router. A router counts as one connection, whatever is behind it. Family and Pro each include 1 router.

My TV app still shows the old country. Why?

Apps keep your location until they restart. Close the app fully, or restart the TV. If you typed a DNS server into the TV by hand, set it back to automatic.

Do you offer Smart DNS?

Yes, made only for TVs that cannot run VPN apps. It runs on its own IP addresses, registered to us, not on a hosting company's addresses. It changes the location your streaming apps see but does not encrypt, so for full privacy use the router.

Why does Smart DNS need my home IP address?

So that only you can use it. Smart DNS answers only the home address you register in your account. We keep that address only while Smart DNS is on and delete it when you switch it off. It is not a connection log.

Ready for the big screen?
